Reiki - Remote treatment with Reiki certificate or Reiki training

Reiki [re: ki] is an alternative medical treatment developed by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century. The term Reiki comes from the Japanese words rei (mind, soul) and ki (life energy) and is usually translated in Western publications as "universal or universal life energy". Reiki refers to both the form of treatment and technique, as well as the hypothetical energy to be worked with. Besides, there are other forms of energy work and techniques of laying on of hands, but they are not identical with Reiki. Reiki treatment aims to increase general wellbeing, maintain good health and activate self-healing in case of illness. The therapeutic energy work is carried out with the help of the hands of the Reiki giver. For Reiki, the initiation by a Reiki teacher is required.

Reiki is passed from Reiki teacher to Reiki student through initiation. Mikao Usui consecrated Chujiro Hayashi as Reiki Master, Master is to be understood here as a Teacher. Hayashi consecrated inter alia. the Hawaiian Hawayo Takata as Reiki Master. Hawayo Takata was the first Reiki Master outside of Japan.

Reiki is practiced by people of different religions and cultures. Unlike other forms of energy work, Reiki practitioners do not work with their own energy, but with the universal or universal life energy called Reiki. After being initiated by a Reiki teacher, Reiki practitioners see themselves as a channel for this energy. Because Reiki practitioners do not work with their own energy, they can also treat themselves. Reiki is transmitted by the laying on of hands or by the fact that the Reiki giver holds his hands a few inches above the body. There are agreements on the individual treatment positions for a full treatment and for a short treatment. However, the Reiki giver can change the treatment of his experience and intuition accordingly. Reiki practitioners assume that Reiki can never hurt as life energy. Reiki can be used alongside any conventional medical or other alternative medical treatment. A diagnosis is therefore not necessary for Reiki treatment.

The aim of the Reiki treatment is physical, mental, mental, spiritual and social health. Reiki practitioners take a holistic approach and believe that change in one area can bring about change in other areas. The Reiki-treated usually has a deep relaxation as it occurs in massages, autogenic training and other relaxation procedures. The Reiki literature states that Reiki flows to where it is needed in the treatment. Reiki works even if the treated person does not believe in the effect. It also works in animals and plants. The literature on Reiki also claims that Reiki strengthens the self-healing powers and helps to overcome diseases. Among other things, Reiki reduces the side effects of medication, supports the healing process of wounds and scars, and less pain. Furthermore, Reiki is promoted with the promise to be able to treat personal problems, such as relationship crises, or financial problems. Such information is documented with anecdotes, serious investigations could not confirm this. On the contrary, Assefi et al. In a randomized, placebo-controlled study of 100 participants with fibromyalgia, they find it makes no difference whether patients were treated by a Reiki therapist or by an actor posing as such.

In Reiki, it is assumed that humans are potentially capable of transmitting a kind of "healing energy" (Reiki). To be able to use this potential, one must be initiated by a Reiki teacher. Inauguration is the Reiki ritual used by a Reiki teacher to empower the Reiki student to give Reiki or use the Reiki symbols. Without this initiation, no one can give Reiki, since the Reiki channel is not open. Also, the Reiki symbols unfold without initiating the symbols to their effect. Traditionally, there are three to four grades in Reiki to teacher training, which are described below. With the exception of master's education, the various levels of Reiki are usually taught in weekend seminars.

Reiki - First degree
At initiation in the first degree, the Reiki channel opens. The first degree represents the physical area. After the initiation, the Reiki practitioner will have Reiki available immediately and for life. He can then treat himself as well as other humans, but also animals and plants via his hands directly with Reiki. The initiation of the first degree by the Reiki teacher is traditionally four initiations. Furthermore, the first initiation stage teaches the basics of Reiki: the history of Reiki, Reiki mode of action, characteristics of the Reiki energy, basic positions of full treatment and short treatment, and the so-called five rules of life.

Reiki - Second degree
The second degree initiation enables the Reiki practitioner to use three Reiki symbols, the power and protection symbol, the mental symbol, and the connection symbol. The second degree focuses on the mental aspect. The student is traditionally given three more initiations during the Second Degree training and gets to know the three Reiki symbols and the associated Kotodamas or Jumons - similar to Mantras. This allows for mental and long-distance treatment, treating any energy field over time and space with Reiki. It can also be people at a remote location, concepts or the impact of past events are treated. A student does not become a better practitioner, but has more uses. Daily self-treatment is seen as the cornerstone of personal development at all levels. An important prerequisite for the second degree is therefore also a longer practice with the first degree and the serious work and examination of oneself.

Reiki - Third degree (master degree)
At the initiation of the third Reiki degree, the initiation takes place on the Master symbol. The third degree focuses on the access plane to the astral area. Through the Master Symbol, the Reiki practitioner consciously becomes the tool of universal or universal life energy. The inauguration to the Reiki master takes place at the earliest one year after the first Reiki initiation, so that the Reiki practitioner can grow into the task of the Reiki mastery. Today, the third degree is often divided into two parts: master degree and teacher grade. Originally, it was only one degree. So today, there are Reiki masters who are not Reiki teachers. Every Reiki teacher is also a Reiki master. The grade of the teacher, also known as fourth degree, involves the knowledge of initiatory rituals and enables others to initiate in Reiki. Teacher training usually takes one to two years to develop appropriate didactic skills. The teacher's grade differs from the other grades basically in that this is not always given a further initiation. However, some Reiki teachers also give one to three initiations at the inauguration of the Reiki teacher. Since the training to become a Reiki master or Reiki teacher is handled so differently, the information on the number of initiations in the literature are not uniform.

Reiki - Fourth degree (Reiki teacher)
In addition to the described traditional system according to Mikao Usui, other schools have developed in the meantime, which have divided the training to Reiki teacher in other degrees and initiations or have mixed with other systems. If the system changes, you may not be able to talk about Reiki anymore. Mikao Usui himself has described his Reiki system as self-contained and complete. Usui and Takata have repeatedly pointed out that Reiki's essence must not be changed.

There are no fixed fees for Reiki treatments and Reiki training. The compensation is therefore negotiated directly with the Reiki practitioner. The costs can vary greatly depending on the provider and the type of training. The cost of training ranges from several hundred to several thousand euros. The cost of a Reiki treatment is about that of a conventional massage, but occasionally go well beyond. Rarely, Reiki treatment is offered free of charge or for a donation that is at the discretion of the patient. Health insurance companies usually do not cover the costs of Reiki treatments.
